After eight years, Neil Harris has announced he will retire as Chairman of Bromley RFC and step down from the Board of BRFC Limited on 31 May 2020. Nigel Wilson has been nominated as Acting Chairman by the Directors. Nigel is a life-time member of the club and has been both a player and coach over the years. He joined the Board on 24 May 2020 and has the full support of the club’s Executive Committee.

Nigel will serve until the AGM, when he will stand for election as Chairman. Ahead of the AGM, nominations for the Chairman’s role, and any other Board positions, may be made by other members of the club. Each of the other existing Directors will be standing for re-election providing continuity and stability at this unprecedented time. If no other nominations are made, Nigel and each of the other current directors will stand for election unopposed.

Currently, it is not allowable in law to hold a virtual AGM meeting although the government has this under review. The Board would prefer to have a physical meeting and as such envisage the AGM taking place in September, guidelines and restrictions permitting.

Nigel Wilson said ‘On behalf of the Board, Executive Committee and the members, I would like to thank Neil for his selfless dedication and commitment to BRFC stretching back over 20 years, including the last eight as Chairman. Neil will continue to act as Membership Secretary and I am sure we will see him at the bar - when it reopens! The Club is in a strong position because of the many, many hours of hard work Neil has put in and the Board, Executive Committee and I look forward to building on these foundations.’
